Stage 2: Wollongong to Canberra
The drive to Canberra was lovely. Although we got lost twice! Headed 70km in the wrong direction at one time. Might seem like loads, but not here. You can travel forever without seeing a town. The only kangeroos we saw were dead ones. We chose to stop in Canberra as its the capital. As the story goes, Melbourne & Sydney debated over who should be the capital. So Canberra was chosen as its half way between both. Well so we thought. Canberra is 3 hrs from Wollongong & another 8 to Melbourne. Canberra is full of gover
nment buildings & memorials, somewhat like Washington DC. It has am amazing war memorial. Its not exactly a party town. But we found an Irish pub. We even bumped into some friends from sydney who were also heading to Melbourne. It seemed everyone was heading there. Even some of the bar men we knew from sydney, were in Canberra.
